Outstanding read -- I could not put the book down! I was drawn to every detail of Dr. Seaborg's journey, from the account of her first seizure as an infant, to her decision to write her most personal thoughts for all of us to read. With each step of her journey through high school, college, her medical training, and motherhood, I tried to imagine how the complexity of learning to live with epilepsy would have affected my own life. Dr. Seaborg places the reader into her own shoes effortlessly and before you know it, you are experiencing every frustration, struggle, and triumph she describes. I highly recommend this book. Whether your life is touched by epilepsy directly or indirectly, you will benefit from Dr. Seaborg's story. If you are a medical professional, this is a must-read -- both you and your patients will greatly benefit. Plus, you are contributing to a great cause by reading her story! All of the author royalties are donated to CURE (Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy).

I have read numerous books about epilepsy but this book is straight forward about how it feels to be labeled as an epileptic. After reading Kristin's book I no longer feel alone and so different from others. This is the type of book I could not put down till I was finish and I even emailed Kristin a note telling her how much her book encourage me to keep going. The best part is she actually replied to my email. Again this book is worth buying.

Great story, I highly recommend for anyone wanting to understand Epilepsy better as well as those that have Epilepsy. I am a mom of a son with it and it was like reading his story. I thank the author for writing such a candid story told in a way that the world can see and understand.

I cannot say enough about Dr. Seaborg's poignant and personal picture of a life with epilepsy while also being a successful physician. It is sad, yet eye opening, how the rest us regard seizures. She brings a unique perspective as both a chronic patient and a physician in how our medical system treats patients as well as other physicians. She has the true compassion and heart to be not only a physician, but a healer. She writes with a personal touch and style that is hard to find in medicine. I highly recommend her book to anyone entering the medical field. She relates a message that will resonate with anyone dealing with a chronic disease and trying to hide it while at work or in other capacities of life.

I just finished reading this book. Dr. Seaborg was my children's pediatrician and I had the privilege of working with her. Her book is an important story and reminder that what you see on the surface is not what is necessarily going on beneath the surface. I was awestruck by her as a doctor and now equally awestruck by the strength of her as a advocate for Epilepsy. This book is an excellent read.

This is a wonderfully written and captivating book that really sheds light on what epilepsy is and how it affects a person and their loved ones. My birthday month gloriously happened to be the "God of Cake" one. I just wanted to very casually mention that.Anything Allie Brosh does tends to end up wonderful, and having her calendar on my wall makes life not hurt any more for entire moments. It's heavenly, really.Re future calendars: I understand that sometimes life simply won't let you do stuff and I sympathize, which is why I'll try not to whine and moan too much about the fact that there isn't a fabulous Brosh calendar for 2018. Given, well, things, I might not have had the heart to make a calendar for 2018 either. But it would still be awfully nice to have one. Maybe 2019 or 2020? Please?

I have this hanging at work and it makes me smile. Be careful if you're one who crosses out dates, though, as it appears to cause the lines / ink from the backside to show up on the next month (if done in pen -- maybe I'll switch to a marker).

I love this comic and had the calendar from 2016 as well. I must say that the calendar last year was better. It had better images where as this one just has a photo on each month instead of comic strips you can read. It is still super adorable since I recognize all of the photos from the comics I can still enjoy them. I just feel like 2016 was better.

This was a quick read for me prior to my second trip to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It helped fill in some of the cultural basics that were not readily apparent from business interactions. I felt more confident this time around and thought that perhaps I understood a little more about my hosts. The book doesn't cover anything in depth, but I recommend it for anyone who has to go there on business.

Much of the information the author shares is useful, but almost all of his observations seem to come from a culturally biased perspective (and doesn't that fly in the face of the purpose of the "Cutlure Smart!" series?), a view that seems unable to see beyond the obvious. Although the author apparently lived in Saudi for a time, I was shocked, repeatedly, by how many things he gets wrong. Just two simple examples: he talks about camera phones being banned in KSA. Not true, and according to my inquiries, has never been true. He says that Saudis are generous tippers. What?!! Tipping is not cutomary here, anywhere I've traveled (and I've traveled extensively around the country), and is viewed with bemused skepticism. Saudis rarely tip, and if they do, it is verrrrry grudgingly... even when they're in western countries where it's expected. These are minor things, but they are indicative of a pattern of statements that runs throughout the book. Because many readers may know nothing about KSA, they will accept the author's statements as facts. But he is frequently wrong. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe these things were misunderstandings, or he heard them from unreliable sources; perhaps they were quirks of the neighborhoods where he lived (in Jeddah, a city on the western coast)... but that seems doubtful. Regardless, if you're presenting materials as accurate truths, especially about a place as distant, misunderstood, and politically sensitive as Saudi Arabia, shouldn't we expect better?This is my first Amazon review, but I feel compelled to set the record straight, or at least, straight-er, in response. I'm a westerner, currently living and working in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia; I've been here for 2 years. I can't in any way call myself an expert about this cutlure, but I have worked very hard to meet and befriend Saudis, venture far beyond the boundaries of western haunts, and open my mind to as untainted a view of the place as one can manage. I'm not always successful, and sometimes I hate it here -- but I try to see the world around me as clearly and honestly as I can. The creators of this book do not seem to be feel the same responsibility.

This is an interesting guide, however, once you get to Saudi and live here, you realise what you read and what actually happens are two very different things. I really love this place. So interesting and full of contradictions.

Everything in this book can be found on the internet with little effort and time. Look at the Expat blogs and you have bought the book.

I read this book before and during my visit, it seemed to help a lot with what to expect and what I experienced. I finished reading it the day before my departure, so in summary, I would recommend it to a person visiting Saudi Arabia. Since I did not come on business, I really couldn't rate that part of the book.

This was a great intro book that gives a newcomer a very good general understanding of what to expect when getting into the kingdom and being subject to Saudi culture.

Very practical. Good introduction to Saudi Arabian culture, history and useful information you need to know on daily basis.

Oh, my goodness! Laura and Jenna Bush wrote a really fun book encouraging families to travel the beautiful National Parks in our country. Also includes a list of our National Parks, by states, in the back of the book. Very useful as a travel guide and planning a special trip.

Nice book for young readers and the read-to that reveals some of the wonders found in America's National Parks.And it's topical too. The daughter in the story spends her days on-line and can't be bothered initially to look out her window as the family winds its way across the United States via National Parks. Of course the wonders of the natural world start to have an effect on her and she realizes that real clouds (and scenery) are much more engaging than life in The Cloud.Nicely illustrated and accessible. My two year old likes the pictures and sits still for the reading.

It's a lovely book by Laura Bush and her daughter Jenna Bush Hager. It's full of love of the National Parks and the outdoors-just want I want to instill in my granddaughters. It's short so it's good for younger children. You get the idea that the natural world is important to the Bush family- unlike the current residents of the White House. Buy it!

This book is a cute introduction to exploring our country's national parks. The artwork is delightful, and I especially enjoyed the reference list in the back of the book. I can see this book being useful as a springboard to research projects for upper elementary-aged students. My son is entering fourth grade, and he was required to several different types of books this summer, including an age-appropriate picture book. Our Great Big Backyard was perfect. We enjoyed the book together, and I am having him research one of the places that the family in the story visited. I would have enjoyed a bit more history about each park given that this book is geared towards a slightly older audience.

This is a really great book to introduce kids to our national parks and family road trips. My kids and I really enjoyed it. I hope the first lady and Ms. Hager consider a sequel that touches on 5 different national parks.

It's been awhile since I got this book and gave it away to a family who visit national parks. A wonderful book.

Purchased 2 copies for grandchildren. They love it. Perfect for reading aloud. A beautifully done book.
