Ok, I confess; I am addicted! Sherryl Woods created such great characters for her Sweet Magnolia series that as son as I finish one volume, I rush to read the next. There are still some organizational challenges for me as a reader: her jumps from one character and issue in one paragraph to another character and issue in another is always disconcerting. However, woods' strength comes from the broad sweep of characters with whom she people's the town of Serenity. With overlapping stories, and for the most part, their continued presence in subsequent volumes, the main characters, the two generations of Sweet Magnolias, and other peripheral characters, Woods really facilitates the readers' connection to, and identification with the residents of Serenity. Her books are similar to soap operas which allow such intimacy with the characters that you cannot give up the fascination with what is going to happen next and to whom. This volume is particularly satisfying as there is adequate closure for all the main characters as well as much-needed references to answer questions about previously featured characters. I do recommend this series although I give fair warning that you will get hooked, just as I am!

I am enjoying all of the Chesapeake Shores series books. Each character has a unique personality and each book in the series focuses on a different character...their everyday problems and happiness. One family and their grown children facing true to life situations. And they find themselves "meddleing" into one anothers business...but out of love and concern. Sex is there but in a tasteful way. The Sweet Magnolia series is wonderful, also. I like the way Ms. Woods writes...she brings a story to life. If you have read Debbie Macomber, Sheila Roberts or RayAnne Thayne books you will love these!

I love books that are in a series and Sherryl Woods really does them well. In my opinion, the Sweet Magnolias series is one of the best! She deals with timely topics and this one is no different, as it deals with domestic violence and the effect it can have on the abused! In this case because of the abuse, Raylene, the protagonist of this story, has become afraid to leave the house of her best HS friend. This story follows her struggle to overcome her Agoraphobia to become free and unafraid. I believe that Woods handled the topic well with well developed characters and a wonderful story line!

I'm glad the author did a book focusing on the parents Mick & Megan but for me it dragged and dragged. We saw a peek of what I think the next book will be about Connor and Heather but I have to be honest I sooooo hope the story line for these two do not continue in the same way it was in this book. This book covered a lot of info about Connor and quite frankly I wasn't impressed. I really don't want to read more about his and Heather's stubbornness.

I have read all the books in this series and have enjoyed them very much. Sherryl Woods does a great job of developing her characters and by the end of her books, I often feel as satisfied as if I have eaten an exquisite meal. However, this book - completing the story of Megan and Mick - seemed rushed and way too predictable. I finished the book in record time, which led me to believe that it was shorter than the other books. Although I read the Kindle version (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Kindle, but that's a review for a different time) I checked the paperback edition which came in at 288 pages, I then checked the rest of the series which came in at 400 pages. Anyway, I do recommend this book if you have read the others, just don't set your expectations too high. If you haven't read any books in the series, start with the first one, The Inn At Eagle Point. You won't be disappointed.

The O'Briens of Chesapeake Shores are a very complex family. There is always something happening and siblings get mad at each other and then others try to smooth things out. This series could go on forever .. The family dynamics hold thereafter .. just wondering what else can happen to this family??

Woods really miss the boat on this. I could not feel the chemistry between the characters—Mick and Megan—who were previously married and created a family. I wanted so badly to love this book after reading The Inn at Eagle Point. But this didn't do it at all. The author has them kiss occasionally and wake up out of the same bed. Seriously? She could have done so much more from the chemistry and passion standpoint. It was a struggle to finish this novel, sorry to admit. She'd have done well to beef up the romance and add more of the Chesapeake maritime and nautical season during the holidays.

I chose this rating because of her ability to make each character come alive individually and yet pull them all together through an engaging story of family , and the complexities of how they relate to each other .I enjoyed the light romance that never overshadowed the direction of the storyline. It was a fun escape into the Chesapeake town, as your pulled into the lives of those who live there.

I have been making wet plate positives and negatives now for three years and this is a book that I keep with me at all times. In the field, it's a great quick reference to make sure I have it right. Highly recommended as well as Quinn's other book.

Excellent resource for making wet plate negatives and contact prints. It's become my guide for mixing chemistry and processing my photographs. Quinn's style is easy to follow and I appreciate the relevant links to historical techniques.

Difficult to read fine print. Very short -- not really a book. Not what I had expected.

Quinn is a well known and accomplished wet plate collodion photographer and teacher. I have a copy of his first book on making wet plate positives (now in reprint on Amazon) and figured this would be a great learning resource for making collodion negatives, and salt & albumen prints.The book feels like it is a companion to his collodion negative workshop (which I haven't taken), and seems like there is missing information at times. The printing section starts off with Making Salt Paper where it tells how the salt the paper, but says nothing about coating it with silver nitrate to sensitize it.I'm interested in salt printing and I was hoping for a bit more indepth info on this, not to mention complete info. The albumen sections seem out of order and again missing info on sensitizing the paper. The "Making Albumen" section seems like it is blending the how-to for both making the albumen, as well as making the paper sections, and then is followed by the list of chemicals and other needed items. And again, the sensitizing the paper section lacks detail on how to actually sensitize the paper.The collodio-chloride section says it is by Mark Osterman. The Toning section says it is an excerpt from James M Reilly's "The Albumen and Salted Paper Book" (still in print, 142 pages and less expensive than Quinn's book.) And the last ten pages of the book are copied from a 1935 Kodak publication on making collodion negatives. I guess I'm confused how nearly half of the content in this book is attributed to other authors?The info on making wet collodion negatives may be the only useful part for me. But at $45 for the book, I'm sure this info could be found on the web or in other free PDF copies of historic photo books like Silver Sunbeam.Had I not gotten this book as a gift, I unfortunately would've sent it back and bought something more useful. I really expected much more from an internationally known authority on wet plate photography.

Rick and Suzie Graetz have given us an excellent book. At our house, we keep it where it is readily available to our guests. The sections are short and self-contained. It is the perfect thing if a person only wants to read for a few minutes. An example is the two pages on the Bannack-Corrine Freight Road used to bring supplies to the gold camps at Bannack and Virginia City. For a longer read before bedtime, a person might want the six pages covering a number of old trails, or the thirty-one pages describing the Yellowstone River. Native Montanans and out-of-state visitors alike appear to thoroughly enjoy the book. My wife and I use it as a starting point when we want to explore a new part of Montana. In additions to trails and rivers, there is information on Montana history, writers, scenery, towns, mountains, national parks, and a multitude of other subjects. The book may be largely a compilation of text from the many photographic essays that Rick and Susie Graetz have published over the years. However, the photographic books are very good, and so is "This is Montana, Vol. I." With the leader of each individual group called the frontman and have five to seven members with at least one magic user/wizard. And the groups names often take their inspiration from classic rock tunes. When they are hired for a job called it's a "gig" by an agent called a "booker." Active groups are said to be Touring. Along the way, author manages to skewer fantasy tropes like trolls, orcs dragons, other magical creatures too numerous to mention, and the excesses of classic rock group stereotypes, like sex, drugs, alcohol, and the occasional random property damage. The book follows the exploits of Saga a former top merc band with a rep among the public and their peers like the Stones or The Beetles. They get back together for one last gig of a personal nature to rescue the estranged daughter of the groups frontman from a city under siege from a demonic horde incited by an old enemy.This is a darkly funny tale with plenty of twists, turns, narrow escapes, and outrageous action adventure. You find yourself laughing out loud and at times choked up by the raw emotion of these life long friends coming back together for one last time to save the day.

If looking for positive and negative feedback on this book don't read any further, there is nothing; not a word, situation, resolution, description, I would change, nothing.On its face a simple story - a man asking his old friends to help save his daughter from what they all know, is an impossible situation.And it remains a simple story.A funny, sad; sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes uplifting story where hard men demonstrate simple acts of humanity that convey more compassion than paragraphs of flowery language. I didn't need a thesaurus next to my bedside to read this book, and when you might, the author made fun of himself.Don't let this review confuse you, this is a band of fat, old, drunk, womanizing mercenaries- who just happened to live long enough to make a choice of who and what they want to be when the grow up, when glory isn't enough..I would recommend this book to anyone I know.Edit: Ok I lied The one thing I would change would be adding a chapter for the antagonists. The bones of his motivation are there but some flesh, his conflict, the compromises he needed to make - what he lost to assemble his mosh pit.

Not that this book is in dire need of more champions; It isn't. But for a plethora of reasons that you will soon find out, should you pick up a copy and read it.I had heard good things about this book all over the internet but mostly from the Fantasy-Faction Facebook group.While all the praise certainly buoyed my confidence in my purchase, while browsing in the bookstore it was the amazing Richard Anderson cover that snapped the money out of my wallet and slapped it onto the counter at check-out.It was said to be a fun, fun book. A book with great action scenes and better characters. One that took inspiration (and attitude) from the author's newfound love of classic rock. Bands like RUSH, Led Zeppelin, The Who and Neil Young were an inspiration. It was said to have moments of great sadness and beauty. Maybe most of all, it was said to be a book that had an awful lot of heart.I am here to reassure you that it is all of those things, yet so much more.In a genre (mostly) stuck in the age of grimdark, KotW is a sweeping, veritable hurricane of crisp, wondrous fresh air.I love this book. I can tell you without doubt, that I will be enjoying it for years to come.I would recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in fantasy. I would urge it upon the fantasy fanatic. I will be buying a second copy for my shelf and lending the one I read to any friends whose mouths I can manage to pry open and force it down. The thing is though, I doubt I will need to. I have a good feeling that they will willingly gobble it down in a few large bites and enjoy it (almost) as much as I did.Buy this book.-SPOILERS BELOW-......................RIP Dane and Gregor. This was a beautiful book and story, So worth the price! Very inspirational

My incredible wife who happens to be the "author" wrote this book from having witnessed our granddaughter as she dealt with all the processes she went through to correct her club feet........all while dealing with metastatic breast cancer that returned in 2015 in her liver, lungs and spine! All her life she has wanted nothing more than being a "published author" and in some way HELP PEOPLE with inspiration from her writing. We have teamed up with miraclefeet.org to donate a portion of any money from this book to this AMAZING organization! Thank you for helping us, help them and children all around the world have a "normal life" that Saylor is enjoying!

Rating is for copy, not Woolf's story. This is not a real book. This copy is retyped in small font with reduced line space and smashed together. Chapter after chapter appears right after another without even a line break, let alone a page break. Impossible to read for relaxation. Makes your eye hurt.

An essay written in the late 1920s about women's writing. Why wasn't Shakespeare a woman? Why did Jane Austen hide her manuscripts from guests? What makes good writing? What makes women's writing? Are a woman's sentences different from a man's sentences?This book is witty, from the first moment when the author tries to cross the lawn of an Oxbridge college and is stopped by a beadle because only the fellows and scholars (all male) are allowed here. Later she notes wryly that the few women's colleges have no such beadle, and none of the endowments of the men's colleges.What a woman needs in order to write is a room of one's own and five hundred pounds a year.When she wrote, women had only had the vote in Britain for less than a decade, and married women had only been allowed to own their own property for a bare forty years. Women's education is no longer the issue it was when the book was written and it is much easier today for a woman to be independent. Still, A Room of One's Own remains an entertaining read and the issues it raises are by no means resolved.

100 years later, she still inspires great insights into the common heritage of women. In eloquent, often poetic language, mrs Woolf makes us see the world through the eyes of Shakespeare's sister. She makes us see how women's toil has barred women from participating in the learned world. We shall not excuse ourselves for producing our offspring, but with modernity comes the responsibility to seize the opportunity to be educated, writing, productive citizens in more than one way. We shall not let ourselves be ignored or set aside, because our experiences are no less important than those of men. And our experience is the source of a different writing than that of men. Thank you for making me proud of my gender.

The women’s movement has, so to speak, moved on to demands like equal pay.So I’ll merely point out one perspective which may have been overlooked by some readers. That is, that Woolf’s cause is completely centered around the problems of first world women. Basically, Woolf argues that women do not have the access to the wealth or education that men have and, as a result, have not produced an artistic genius like Shakespeare. Fair enough. But how many women in the period following the First World War were concerned about having an outlet for their creativity? Were not women in many parts of the world so bereft of even their natural human rights so as not to over worry about outlets for creativity?For all its indisputable genius, A Room of One’s Own then may arguably be charged with a mixed legacy. Yes, it highlighted the need for privileged women to be equals of men in their access to the fonts of creativity. But it also may have tended to direct feminism to a first world perspective leaving out the voices of billions of women who Woolf, for all her literary aplomb, does not seem overly concerned about, at least in this work.Literary classic? Undoubtedly. Mixed effect on the direction of twentieth century feminism? A distinct possibility.

I always forget how great Virginia Woolf's writing is. This is an essay noting the absence of women's writing voices throughout history and she makes note that women need a room of their own (which throughout history they have not had being forced to write in common rooms when they wrote) and independent means (which until very recent history women's income was claimed by their husband). Her point being that women need independence if they are to have an independent writing voice.

One of the best books I read in 2016.She should be one of the most humorous women in Britain at her time. It was supposed to be a speech. Putting a lot of discursive aside, her speech started with Women and Fiction and what she had experienced and what had inspired her about the topic she supposedly gave speech to Newham Girls College. Here main theme, "numerous generations of unsung unnoticed unjusted women paved the way for what women at her era could attain was remarkable, and the girls should fight and stand on their corpses' and souls' behalf", was so strong and so well versed.

This is the first I have ever read of Virginia Woolf. I found it a fascinating read. I came away learning new things and realizing women have felt inferior for a very long time. I hadn't realized this book is one of the beginnings of the feminist movement.

This book is not only an enjoyable and fairly quick read, but it is also an important milestone in not only feminist literature, but literature as a whole. Woolf's amusing and sharp assessments of the way men view women to be inferior, particularly in skill and intellegence, is (at least somewhat) relevent even today. She rightfully stresses the importance of every woman having both a room and money of her own. Without those two things, she can not be truely independant. A must for any lover of feminism or for anyone with a taste for short, smart books.

I also grew up in Atlanta, lived on Cherokee Avenue and went to Slaton Elementary School. Graduated from Murphy High School in 1964. Dennis did a great job capturing the history and spirit of that area during the 50's and 60's. I shared many of his experiences at almost every venue, restaurant, school, and store. Geographically, as a kid I rode my bike on almost all the streets in his book. Great book about Atlanta during that period.

What a nostalgic moment to be transported back to the days of my childhood and teen years in the areas surrounding Lakewood and Grant Park, and, of course, my alma mater, Roosevelt High School. We didn't realize what pain and poverty there was in the lives of our friends and classmates we thought we knew so well. Thank you for letting us glimpse once more back to those days in time again. A beautiful read and well written, too.

Fade from Grey is a beautifully and sensitively written memoir of the Author’s coming of age on Atlanta’s Southside. I found the book a joy to read. It is filled with colorful imagery painted by the many sub-stories and characters that make this book a memoir for all.

Your story made me realize that many of my Oakland City & Cascade Heights friends were living very different lives. Why didn’t I notice? I’ll be thinking about this book for a long time. Thank you Dennis

Absolutley loved Fade from Grey. It is well written and straight from the heart. I highly recommend reading this book.

Dennis Lindsey has written a textured and sensitive narrative about his boyhood growing up in Southside Atlanta around the Grant Park neighborhood. He lived in an environment of poverty, family dysfunction, and the prevalent racism of the times (the fifties and early sixties). Even so, there are moments of tenderness, laughter, and closeness which weave their magic through the story and against all odds provide a backdrop for personal growth and the beginnings of a later life of personal and professional achievement.For anyone now living or has lived in Atlanta this book provides many historical and landmark references, insights, and local lore. The description of childhood in the fifties and sixties with its freedoms and simple pleasures will bring back happy memories for those of a certain age and delight those whose grandparents grew up during this time.The author takes the reader on a journey filled with happy moments, sad times, and surprising twists as he walks, runs, an sometimes stumbles from elementary school into high school. Dennis is an educated and experienced journalist and has written and enjoyable and engrossing tale of his childhood filled with warmth and authenticity. It is a contribution and a gift to all those who similarly shared this time and place and to future readers who want to know what it was like in Southside Atlanta during this historic period.

If you came of age in Atlanta, GA during the 50's or 60's you must read this book. If you are a student of history or are interested in the evolution of the human spirit you should read this novel. This book tells the tale of how one man who lived through poverty, integration, and the search for maturity found self realization. I was there and experienced many of the incidents mentioned in the this masterful tale of a bunch of teenagers trying to make sense out of a changing world, I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know how we got from there to here.

Really enjoyed reading this book about hard times and real life from my part of town. There was a stigma about our side of town during those years and it was felt by most of us teenagers I suppose. Dennis does a great job of sharing the struggles his family endured like so many in that area at the time. He takes everyone on a journey through so many notable landmarks around the Southside which in turn brings back many good memories.
