I always get the new Zagat's and this seller sent it quickly. However I don't like this new format/ version of the guide itself. The older versions are better but can't be used since they're outdated. Restaurants have closed and new ones opened so I buy a new guide every year. For some misguided reason they've alternated dark and light print on every review making it harder to read. It's distracting and the light print is too pale to read quickly and easily.

The type size used (way too small), makes for very difficult reading.

Do not like the new format; The rating system is much harder to distinguish between restaurants and you really can not tell what a meal will cost. I end up going to the restaurant website to look at the menu to figure out the cost. What a disappointment. Very difficult to read now. Stupid type face. I've used for decades and always purchased. won't do so next year with this print type.

There is not likely to be another Englishman with Churchhill's acumen for language, his succinct observations, and a veiled sense of merriment that underlay many of his remarks, publicly and privately. Today's lackluster politicians could learn much from him. His rejoinder to a colleague who advised him that his fly buttons were undone was worth the price of the book by itself! And, he was half-American.

This relatively small book is divided into several sections with slices from Churchill's life and quotations related to politics, speaches, friends, animals, family, etc.Here are few excerpts:While campaigning in 1900, it is said that the young Churchill was doing a spot of canvassing when one of those he approached exclaimed:"Vote for you? Why, I'd rather vote for the Devil!""I understand", Churchill answered, "But in case your friend is not running, may I count on your support?"* * *When passed a very long but turgidly written memorandum on some worthy but uninspiring subject, the elderly Prime Minister weighed the thick wad of paper in his hands and commented, "This paper by its very length defends itself against the risk of being read."* * *Churchill liked animals; sometimes he found this difficult to reconcile with his fondness for rich food. Anthony Montague Brown recalled that 'One Christmas he was about to carve a goose. Learning it was one of his own, he put down the knife and fork and said, "I could not possibly eat a bird that I have known socially."* * *A BBC broadcaster described once sitting next to Churchill as he gave a speech, keeping his audience hanging on to his every word. When I heard that my small group was doing Boundaries, I was excited since I had read the book and liked it. Unfortunately, the DVD doesn't measure up. It basically gives little skits to start off the discussions, but the skits don't seem to have much to do with the content of the book or even the discussion questions in the Participant Guide. Moreover, the acting is pretty bad, and the "plots" are slow and predictable. In fact, half way through, we stopped playing the video because so many people stopped coming! I'd suggest skipping this one.

He makes some excellent points and this definitely influenced how I think about things. However, I disagree with him strongly in one point and I feel that he skirted one important issue. Near the end of the book he gives an example where a child refuses to go to school and the mother realizes she "can't make the child go to school" but sets the boundary that the child will have to stay in his room if he doesn't go to school. The problem with that logic is, if you can't "make a child go to school" how can you "make a child stay in his room"? We can't make a child enjoy school or even pay attention to the teachers, these things take incentives and consequences, but parents do still need to hold onto the reigns on certain issues. It is a delicate line, but I can and do "make" my children go to school.The other issue is one of an abusive marriage. He talks about putting up boundaries and leaving for the night if these boundaries are violated. This is always done for a short period of time and then the abused spouse returns home. There are situations where this is effective. But in a true abusive situation (physical or mental) it is playing with fire to leave and return over and over. The physical abuser can be deadly. A mental abuser will learn how to better manipulate her victim without his realizing that his boundaries have been violated and thereby twisting reality even further. Any abusive person is not to be trifled with, and without genuine repentance and clear signs of change one is foolish to continue to expose themselves to that risk regardless of history, children, or feelings. For all of his insight, I am shocked that this is not made more clear.

Getting through even one chapter of this book requires complete agreement with and acceptance of Christianity. It does not merely inform the work, it doesn't make sense without it. This book is so God preachy that unless you are extremely religious you are unlikely to find any of this compelling. Very disappointed.

[Note: although I'm not religious, I still found a ton of value out of this book]Cloud and Townsend do a great job of using boundaries to illustrate why we grew up certain ways. For example, you probably know someone who has a money problem. He spends recklessly and doesn't really think about the consequences of his actions. This can be traced back to his parents never establishing their own boundaries. They would always bail the son out whenever he ran out of money and tell him to be better next time. They never let him "feel" the consequences. And so he never learned.There's so many other brilliant examples of the importance of boundaries and how they affect the people around us.I learned a lot about myself through the sections that detail boundaries with friends, family, and work. The one that impacted me the most was the section on Boundaries with Myself. I grew up with parents who while loving, also created situations for me where I was not able to feel the consequences, and so I behave in certain ways that I'm trying to fix.When I was first referred to this book, I wasn't told this book had a heavy religious undertone (the conflict of setting boundaries and being a good person in the eye of God). I'm not religious, so the biblical references didn't really matter to me much, but that doesn't mean I can't learn from them. The concepts themselves made sense to me and I would recommend this book to anyone who believes they have boundary problems.

This book was recommended to me by a counselor at my church. Initially I had a hard time getting into it but I stuck with it and I am so glad that I did! It provides incredible insight into why we behave the way we do, where those habits come from and how to get out of them if need be. I have tried to start applying the principles to my life and I have to say that the description of how people react to the initial phase of boundary setting has proven to be very accurate. (Hint: If you've always been a people pleaser, they are going to have a difficult time with the new you until they get adjusted.) I feel like this is helping me realize that it is ok to say no to certain requests or to certain people who suck the life out of you. I feel more capable of coping with the challenging people in my life now. I was not a doormat before by any means but I have always had the tendency to give until I had little left for my self or my own family. NO MORE!

This book should be called "How to accept who you are, be confident about telling people no, and have confidence in making decisions". This is an excellent book for those looking to understand the reasons behind deep emotional road blocks. I have read this book twice because it opened so many doors in my mind and lead me towards answers I had been seeking. If you're not religious it may sound a little to holy at first but by the end of the book you'll have a much better understanding of god and his teachings. I never saw myself going to church or reading the bible but after reading this book it helped me accept responsibility for my problems and understand how god and his teachings exist for that very reason. Each individual is responsible for the quality of his or her own life. It teaches that by accepting things which may have happened to you aren't necessarily your fault but are still your responsibility to deal with, get over, and forgive in order to move on a be a whole person is a fundamental part of life. This one of a few books which may really change your life if you're struggling with being happy and being okay with who you are.

As a math tutor, I bought this text book to go with the Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 text books of the same series (and same authors). This series of books is somewhat dated, as compared to the current high school curriculum, but it's very comprehensive.

Great book at great price.

These books are used by my school district, and I use them as a reference for teaching. What I like about them is they give clear examples and are fairly straightforward and user-friendly, unlike some math texts that are just a jumble of words to read. These have all the important concepts in bold, and in nice neat-looking little green-bordered boxes. And, of course, answers to odd problems in the back. This is an excellent reference book. It is a bit much to use as a textbook as it has more more of an encyclopedia feel to it. Most chapters cite about 500 sources but can be as much as 1400 to give you an idea of the extent of the information condensed in this book. Key characteristics of bacteria are listed in charts in each chapter and some identification schemes are provided. This is clearly a text dedicated to bacteria (15 of 24 chapters). The remaining chapters are broader in their scope and cover things such as general microbiology practices, mycology, viruses, and parasitology.

A good comprehensive test concerning all aspects of microbiology. There is a very useful section of photographs and graphics which demonstrate the rich variety of microorganisms that might be seen in a laboratory. This is a very good text with extensive detail for any level of college / university education and beyond. However, this text is large and heavy, which means that is stays on my shelf in my room instead of travelling with me to school.

Way too complex for an MLT program. Possibly OK for MLS, definitely OK for MDs!

Very good book, but very very heavy. Almost gave myself a hernia trying to lug it to school every day. Ended up just leaving it at home and using the library copy while at school and mine at home. It has anything and everything about microbiology and virology. Extremely in depth. Maybee too much so? Can be tedious to read from cover to cover.

I bought this book as a reference for the board certification exams in medical technology. It answered every question I needed to find an answer to and so much more. I passed my exams and I'm still using this book. If I need in-depth descriptions of an organism, it's all there. Medical technologists or students, you won't be disappointed with this book.

I bought BLACK'S LAW DICTIONARY for two basic reasons.First, the Abridged Fifth Edition was very affordable.And I also wanted to compare it with the legal dictionary that I already have.The only negative that I can think of is the age of this edition.Despite that, I have been very happy this older edition.It's a comprehensive list of terms with over 16,000 definitions. That's considerably more than Oran's Dictionary of the Law has.I found the definitions to be thorough.The pronunciation guide is another feature that I appreciate in BLACK'S.An added bonus is the U.S. Constitution in the back of the dictionary.If you are searching for an affordable, comprehensive law dictionary this edition is worthy of consideration.

I'm currently a 1L law student and have used this pocket dictionary a ton since I first got it.As a student I have access to the online edition through Nexis but I've actually found this to be easier since the search tool is not always as good as you would expect and just getting to the online version can take longer than opening up this book most of the time.I also am more of a kinetic learner and have found that the print edition helps me to retain better. Plus I just love books so it's more enjoyable to me to look it up in a book than online (and in law school every small pleasure helps).Definitely recommend it. I've found it useful and more importantly more enjoyable than an online version.UPDATE: I'm now a 3L and it's true that you don't use this dictionary as much you would expect to, especially after 1L. But I do still pull it out every so often, and seeing definitions in print form helps me to remember them.I will say though that part of me wishes I had gone with the full sized version instead of the pocket edition. It is frustrating in some upper level classes, like Property, when you go to look for a word and it isn't there.If you are concerned about the weight you carry, you will find that you will get better at carrying only what you need (or just get used to tugging around a ton of books all the time). So the pocket edition is not essential.Overall, I don't regret buying it as it's been helpful enough to warrant the 35 bucks you will spend on it. Plus Black's is the best law dictionary out there. But, if you are short on money and are trying to decide between the pocket edition and the full edition go with the full edition.

When compared to the newest, 9th edition, this 5th edition puts that one to shame! And, rightfully so! For example: I could NOT believe the definitions in 9th edition book! They are supposed to be 'legal' definitions! Definitions of words when they are used in laws and Courts, not as defined in Websters which is everyday use.Fence, for example in the 5th edition is:A hedge, structure, or partition, erected for the purpose of inclosing a piece of land, or to divide a piece of land ito distinct portions, or to separate two contiguous estates. (and more)In the 9th edition, it does NOT mention the definition shown above, but goes on ad nauseum to define how drugs and stolen goods can be sold to a fence. Not one mention of the "fence" as it pertains to real property. NOT ONE WORD!!!However, the new Editor's name, in gilded letters, LARGE gilded letters, is on the leather bound cover: Bryan A. Garner, Editor in Chief.Don't waste your money on the 9th or 8th edition.

I sought out this product because it is the last edition before the NWO began changing the dictionary. If you don't believe it, compare the definitions for the USA. The USA or US now ceases to exist legally. Now I must get a ninth edition for the new words that have since been created.This particular book is nicely padded, has a gorgeous cover, and in near perfect shape except for the damage described by seller. Seller nicely wrapped the product for shipping and it arrived within the shipping parameters. I would buy from this seller again since he gave an accurate description and knows how to wrap an item for shipping.

Extremely helpful when reading through depositions and motions. Already dog-eared after a couple weeks. Should have spring for the hard cover edition.

Worth its weight in GOLD, especially if you need legal info on what legalese means. I have difference versions. This is best one with most content that I have Would buy again

A lot of words, and light weight. Only suggestion: come with tabs to separate the letters. A lot of looking where a word is, but once I put on my own tabs, great book.

First of all the plastic in cover is peaking and when I finally went to use for class I note the pages aren’t in chronological order nor are the definitions defeating the purpose of a DICTIONARY! Now I have to repurchase at a bookstore or more reputable book seller 😔

How does one say he "loves" a dictionary? No such book is ever a page-turner or a "read in bed" tome. On the other hand, when (not if) I have to decode legalese that's thicker than the jungles of Borneo, I'll want this along. I got it because another guy recommended I have a copy at my side. After looking at ~100 terms at near-random, I'm glad I acquired it. I expect to need it. And the $200 price for a new volume is not affordable.
