I bought this book for my granddaughter, she loves it and would like to have all the Gaia books.I shall look for more.

Extremely well written for an audience of 5th-9th grade students. In the first part of the book, the author clarifies what we know about climate change while also addressing common myths and misunderstandings. In the second part of the book, Gaia warriors are revealed--that is people who are striving to save the planet in noteworthy ways are being revealed. At the same time, these ideas are a call to action for the reader and many are within our reach of doing. These ideas are not the "same old" either. "Dressing for the climate," a two-page spread on one designer who is up-cycling used clothes for her fashion line is one example of the innovation discussed in the book. The layout and design of this book is fabulously appealing and engaging - with quotes, photos, diagrams, illustrations, etc. and a decent size print which aids the reader when the author describes complex concepts early on in the book. About the Author

James Proctor first came across all things Nordic as a student. After mistakenly wandering into a Swedish lecture, he soon realised that his native Yorkshire dialect, liberally laced with dozens of old Viking words, was going to make learning this offbeat Scandinavian language a doddle. And so began a love affair with the Nordic countries, which has endured to this day – 30 years or so later. As the BBC's Scandinavia correspondent in the 90s, James travelled widely across the Nordic countries and has since written no fewer than six travel guides to the region. He first visited Svalbard in 2017 and, despite his knowledge of northern countries, was still struck by the fact that it takes a full 1½ hours by jet-engined 737 to reach Svalbard from northernmost Lapland. A trip to Svalbard will always be one of those once-in-a-lifetime adventures and James is glad to count himself among the members of this still rather exclusive club who have made it to the High Arctic. Today he divides his time between the South of France and his beloved Yorkshire.Anika Paust left her studies in Aerospace Engineering to travel the world, but ended up in the tiny town of Longyearbyen just 1,300km from the North Pole, and on the opposite side of the planet from her home town of Perth, Western Australia. Her work as the international sales manager for a major tour operator enables her to combine two of her passions: travel and Svalbard. Having lived in Longyearbyen since 2008, she has seen a number of changes to the town and the region over the last few years, and is excited to see the development of the archipelago as a sustainable destination for year-round tourism.

I've got lots of cookbooks - but this is the one that's falling apart from so much use! I've given so many gifts of this book and use it weekly.

I gave this book to a friend of mine who has opened a cafe in a small town... and I know of her struggles to get going... from the decoration of the place, the equipment necessary, the cooking, the patrons, the training of the cooks and waitresses and so much detail. They started just serving lunch but now they are open three night a week for dinner and so far so good.Then I bought it for myself, because I just have to make some of that wonderful food to enjoy with friends and with family.I recommend it, it is well written, it is inspiring. I stresses the value of good, fresh produce, and the best ingredients.Hope to someday visit Cafe Beaujolais... I live in Atlanta, Georgia, was born and raised in Lima, Peru.

The recipes in this book are great, especially the tomato soup and chicken salad (Chinese). I really liked the simple way in which they were written and the use of readily available ingredients. My favorite part of the book was all the minutae about the restaurant itself. From starting a restaurant, to running it, to buying provisions, to personnel, the book was a fascinating inside look at the business of food. The authors never complained, but they made me realize what a tough business they are in. Hope I can visit Cafe Beaujolais sometime.

I absolutely love this cookbook. I found it when I was in culinary school, and loved the style of food, loved the idea of a woman chef owning her own small restaurant on the Northern California Coast in Mendocino. She's not there, now, unfortunately, but I just recently bought my third copy of her book! I still love it after 25 years.

Recipes are even better than I expected!

This may be one of my all time top five cook books ever written. To have at least a third of the book devoted to the running, planning and thinking of a restaurant is still relevant, even after all this time. and then the recipes. the Chicken Stuffed under The skin is phenomenal; the Amazon Cake is classic. And the soups are still some of the best ever made. Where did she go???? Margaret:::write something new....(and yes, I do have "Morning Foods".....)

Tasty and easy enough to follow recipes. My go to book when cooking at home.

I purchased this cookbook many years ago but I either lent it to someone or it got lost in the shuffle. Wanted to replace my copy so ordered it from Amazon and was delighted with the condition of the book and how quickly it arrived. Also, this was a signed copy which was a surprise.When Margaret Fox was the chef/owner, we always had at least one meal there when visiting Mendocino. I love the Congo Bar recipe and the story that Margaret Fox tells about it.

I'm only had the chance to skim through the chapters and check out what fitting issues are addressed. I'm already in love with chapter 15 because it addresses back fitting issues. I specifically have a broad back and 2 mosquito bites on my front.Most advice would have me going up a cup size and making a FBA, because my back is so muscular.If nothing else I've finally found something that will help me with this fitting issue for me and another family member.I still own all of my textbooks from my fashion merchandising/design major. None of my textbooks cover everything in one text and the illustrations are really for someone who knows what they are doing.I've been looking for an all around book that helps with fitting issues with great illustrations. So far this book fits my needs,.I'm not sure if it is the definitive guide for fitting, but it is comprehensive. This book coupled with sewing classes would help anyone who sews.I'm not sure if it is available in an e-book version, but if it is...I will invest in that version as well.I do wish it had been available in hardback for the price I paid.I would recommend this book for a beginner all the way through to an advanced sewist.

I am a College-level fashion design instructor and purchased this book hoping to help my students reign down the complexities of pattern fitting. Unfortunately, this book lists no foundational principles, no step-by-step approach, and no decent table of content, let alone decent illustrations. It's a dense, poorly laid-out catalogue of 'real people with real pattern fitting issues' pictures, but doesn't expose the real analysis that went through or the pattern manipulation that it required. I rarely return books, but I couldn't hold onto this one: it was nearly making me unlearn what I know. Seriously muddles everything and turns fitting into a series of exceptions rather than a logical process. Stick to the fitting section contained in serious textbooks like Cabrera's.

Wow!! I could say that I was really blown away by this book. I'm a beginner sewer (in it for about 4 months now) and I really wanted to make the most of the patterns I have purchased. This book was recommended to me in a Facebook sewing group.Before receiving the book, I thought that it would be decent and quite methodological. Also thought it would come in just the plain white book paper and black ink. Boy was I so wrong. I browsed through the pages upon receiving it and it's really a delight to look at.The pages are semi-glossy / matte and are in full-color. It's like a magazine but it's packed with lots of information that a newbie like me would have to absorb like a sponge haha.I'm so glad I chose to go with this recommended book before buying the others. I'm sure it will take me a while before I need to order other books because this seems sufficient for my needs :)

this book is great- real practical, easy to use--- clear pictures with every example, very thorough & wow! -real people as models. I wish I had bought this one first.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! It is filled with so much information. Updated alteration methods are shown in clear, concise ways.

I have taken the fit classes from Palmer and Pletsch and am a certified fit instructor with them. This is the new edition with several new techniques. It is user friendly, and I use it when teaching fitting.

Has fixes for all fitting issues. Plus I just found out I don't have to a muslin, which has always been a problem for me because it just seems so wasteful.

My wife says it's well done and worth the $$. She spent the day in it and says it's the best book for sewing clothes the right way.
