Having just returned from SE Asia I can say in all honesty, if you want one succinct book on the history and current (but not current enough and reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars)--this is it.Read before we went, will re-read when jet lag abates.
Brief but in depth knowledge of each country in Southeast Asia. Good historical, cultural and economic data provided. Was very helpful for my trip there.
Good, but general primer of the countries of SEA. Could use an update since the last publication. Still easy read and informative.
