I am incredibly impressed by the content, structure, and formatting of this book. The text spans over 1500+ pages and contains a load of knowledge concerning all you ever wanted to know about maintaining or servicing a vehicle. It is a great investment for an individual studying to become a technician, an enthusiast, or just anyone who wants to learn how today's advanced internal combustion vehicle operates. I am about 1/4th of the way through and feel much more confident in regards to my knowledge of how a vehicle operates as well as the businesses that service them. I picked my copy up used for around $85.00, and I feel like this was a steal for all of the knowledge and experience contained within. A word of advice on textbooks (collegiate and technical); buy used. Do not be the one to take all of the depreciation. This book is not too old either, and all of the information within is timeless. Supposedly a new edition is coming out next year, and usually new editions are nothing new at all, but with how some vehicles have evolved since this books' publication (Tesla), I am interested to see the updates. Another aspect of this book that I really enjoy is that it is not one sided (everything is like a GM product). In addition, the author conveys a positive, warm, and educational tone that is not overbearing or arrogant (he knows that you are attempting to learn). In closing, books will only go so far in a career field like this, but I am studying to become a Lexus Certified Technician and am incredibly impressed.

I use this book as a learning tool and reference when working on my vehicles. Service manuals are pretty good as how-to guides but short on theory. Great explanations, figures, pictures, etc.

I am an experienced technician trying to keep up with new technology. This book explains things that did not exist when I went to school. Also a good review for my ASE recertification test that is coming up. This book would be excellent for the automotive student learning the basics.This book does not have the specific information you would find in a service manual for a particular car.

Very good book for students or anyone wanting to learn or review basic service and diagnostic procedures. Great book for DIY. Very good illustrations and photos.

I bought this book for a night summer class I took to learn about cars (it was required) but I am very impressed on how much information is in it. It is definitely geared towards people that plan on going into the industry since it has a lot of "how to" interface with customers but it still has plenty of information, and background, on all types of cars.It is structured so that it will describe how a system works, like the brakes, the different types of systems, how to diagnose them, and then how to fix most, if not all, of the problems that come up.

Contains all information you'll ever need for car repair, I use it to study for my Automotive Service classes at school.

This is my update to my earlier books. It is a great body of work on all automotive systems.
