Oh, my goodness! Laura and Jenna Bush wrote a really fun book encouraging families to travel the beautiful National Parks in our country. Also includes a list of our National Parks, by states, in the back of the book. Very useful as a travel guide and planning a special trip.
Nice book for young readers and the read-to that reveals some of the wonders found in America's National Parks.And it's topical too. The daughter in the story spends her days on-line and can't be bothered initially to look out her window as the family winds its way across the United States via National Parks. Of course the wonders of the natural world start to have an effect on her and she realizes that real clouds (and scenery) are much more engaging than life in The Cloud.Nicely illustrated and accessible. My two year old likes the pictures and sits still for the reading.
It's a lovely book by Laura Bush and her daughter Jenna Bush Hager. It's full of love of the National Parks and the outdoors-just want I want to instill in my granddaughters. It's short so it's good for younger children. You get the idea that the natural world is important to the Bush family- unlike the current residents of the White House. Buy it!
This book is a cute introduction to exploring our country's national parks. The artwork is delightful, and I especially enjoyed the reference list in the back of the book. I can see this book being useful as a springboard to research projects for upper elementary-aged students. My son is entering fourth grade, and he was required to several different types of books this summer, including an age-appropriate picture book. Our Great Big Backyard was perfect. We enjoyed the book together, and I am having him research one of the places that the family in the story visited. I would have enjoyed a bit more history about each park given that this book is geared towards a slightly older audience.

This is a really great book to introduce kids to our national parks and family road trips. My kids and I really enjoyed it. I hope the first lady and Ms. Hager consider a sequel that touches on 5 different national parks.
It's been awhile since I got this book and gave it away to a family who visit national parks. A wonderful book.
Purchased 2 copies for grandchildren. They love it. Perfect for reading aloud. A beautifully done book.
