I really enjoyed this book, and I liked the format in which it was written. I liked that it was set in a narrative, which made it more interesting to follow along. The only reason for "4" stars, rather than "5" is that I could not access the workbook that the author refers to throughout the book. I clicked on the link, but nothing happened. Nevertheless, the info in the book itself was great!
I've put some of these principles into place, and am excited for the future. Thank you, Mr Roberts for the great book!
Parents or young college students who don't want to finish their college career with a mountain of debt can say themselves a lot of trouble and heartache by applying even just a few of the principles outlined in this book. There is no need to pay for college the rest of your life and be encumbered by student loans when money is just sitting there waiting to be claimed. For those who want to instill sound financial principles into their children, take a good look at this book and share, share, share!This book opened my eyes to the possibility that lies ahead of those who presume higher education. I applied for a few scholarships in high school and got a fair portion of them but never thought of using that same information to spears a huge net and really increase the odds of having college money available. I held a full-time job to make ends meet and it would have been a huge benefit to apply some of these scholarship application principles. The narrative way the book is written in makes it very enjoyable and easy to digest. I didn't spend a lot of time on worksheets but would really encourage my children to take time to complete the assignments as a course during their high school years. At this point in my life, the information on the educational savings account was very helpful and make me excited to look into it more for my own children.
So many financial books (or any books in the "self-help" category) are so dry and preachy. This book is not. It relates to traditional classics in that the lesson is in the story, making it easier to follow and to internalize. I'll definitely be returning to this book.So often we feel doomed or stuck because of unforeseen situations. Justin's experiences reminded me that I am, truly, the master of my own destiny- all I have to do is make the choices to let that destiny be what I want.
This book is packed with fantastic advice! This is the first financial book I’ve read start to finish, and I think it’s because it was story-based learning; I found it refreshing. These financial principles should be taught in middle school and begun in high school--don't wait until college like Justin did! It really will save people from a lot of trouble! I definitely would recommend this book to my friends and will have my kids read it when they get a little older. Thank you for putting it all together; this is a great resource!

I particularly liked the tips on how to buy discounted textbooks, find a college job with relatively few responsibilities so students can basically get paid to do their homework, and reuse scholarship applications and essays to maximize the efficiency of your scholarship search. These tips and many others are golden! This is a must-read book for parents and college-bound students.
What a refreshing and complete approach to funding a higher education. As a parent of five children (one who is finished with college and the next one who entered college last fall,) I am continuously searching for resources to help fund college expenses. I feel so grateful and fortunate to have come across this book when I did. I happened upon this book at a financially critical time for our family. As much as we tried to prepare ahead of time, funding college for our second child was going to be a challenge. We did not qualify for federal aid, scholarships, or other financial aid other than loans. We were facing the unexpected regardless of our efforts to prepare this child for college. This book reads like a story and not a dry text. It was easy and enjoyable to read. And ironically, the main character in the text is dealing with an unexpected financial crisis as well that effect his previous expectations and hopes. The book continues on with concepts that are creative, realistic, and solid. This is the real deal when it comes to approaching education costs in their entirety. Steven Robert's approach is not just a monetary gain, but a complete process that is creative and just makes sense.
I loved this book. The story line is great, easy to follow, very applicable. Lessons learned were reviewed in each chapter and very easy to understand. It makes the idea of going to or back to college not so scary. I highly recommend this book to anyone thinking about going to college or furthering their school.I learned some great steps about finding ways to fund college: applying for grants, budgeting, and finances.
